I hope like myself, you are enjoying life resembling a bit more of normality with the shops, pubs and very importantly the gyms opening. A new sense of optimism is definitely in the air in Grimsby and I hope a lot of the businesses in our community bounce back after having a really difficult year. It’s been tough in most homes and mine is no different; from the wife home-schooling our two boys and having close friends relationships breaking down due to the strain of lockdown is something I think we have all been through together.

Nevertheless, it’s important to put this behind us and start a new day.. I was delighted to be asked by Fortis Therapy to be one of their ambassadors this year and by no means do I have any qualifications in therapy, but what I do have is a very positive mindset. I’ve learnt most people just need someone to listen to them. I’ve definitely found this opportunity rewarding and I’ve tried to help out the best I could.

Now for the future! In my personal view, it’s going to be more important than ever to learn the lessons from Covid-19 – checking in on friends from time to time has become more relevant also enjoying the fresh air and outdoor exercise seems to have thrived in the past year. The park opposite my house has never been busier with all age groups walking or jogging, it’s great to see.

Moreover, what will be important is the fact we don’t feel like the victim. I feel now more than ever, we cannot use Coronavirus as an excuse for everything in life. It is the British way to roll ourselves up and get on with it and that’s for sure what I’m pushing at home, with Ish Fish and the great team around us.

I’ll leave you with this – “Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviour. Keep your behaviour positive because your behaviour becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny”.

Have a great week, Garry
